The roots of our institute extend over half a century ago, when Dr. Shamsunder Krishnaji Parulekar resolved to contribute to the community that shaped him. Born into a middle-class family with five brothers, he broke tradition by embracing the noble profession of medicine. Rather than settling in the bustling city as expected, he returned to his roots in Sindhudurg district and established his practice in Kudal.

With unwavering dedication and diligence, he became the beloved 'people's doctor,' remembered to this day for his healing touch, unparalleled wit, and approachable demeanor. In 2001, his youngest son, Dr. Makarand Parulekar, earned his M.S. in Orthopedics and, inspired by his father's legacy, chose to walk the same path.

In 2004, he inaugurated the Dr. S. K. Parulekar Hospital in Ganesh Nagar, Kudal. Joined by his wife, Dr. Gauri Parulekar, they embarked on a journey of service and care. The hospital flourished, pioneering various medical procedures previously unavailable in the district, including the first Total Knee Replacement, Arthroscopic ACL repair, and Spine surgeries.

The hospital became a breeding ground for budding specialists and consultants, nurturing their careers. As the demand for expanded services grew, the time arrived to transition to a larger, more comprehensive facility. Thus, SINDHUCARE HOSPITAL was born, marking a new chapter in our commitment to healthcare excellence.

Our founders, Dr. Makarand and Dr. Gauri Parulekar, bring a wealth of expertise and dedication to Sindhucare Hospital, Kudal. Dr. Makarand, a Mumbai-trained orthopedic specialist with extensive experience in trauma and arthroscopic ligament repairs, focuses on knee arthroplasty, having performed over 100 joint replacement surgeries.

Dr. Gauri, hailing from Thane and now rooted in Sindhudurg for 18 years, is a distinguished obstetrician and gynecologist, passionate about ultrasound technology and its diverse applications. Together, they ensure elite medical services reach even the remotest parts of Maharashtra.

Our Founders

Dr. Makarand, a true son of the soil, earned his MBBS from Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Hospital in 1992. Following this, he served as a Medical Officer at Tulas PHC before obtaining his postgraduate degree in Orthopedics from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital.

With specialized training in trauma care and arthroscopic ligament repairs, his focus now lies in Knee Arthroplasty, having attended numerous workshops abroad.

With thousands of orthopedic procedures under his belt, including over 100 successful joint replacement surgeries, Dr. Makarand is well-equipped to deliver top-tier care, even in the most remote corners of Maharashtra.

Originally from Thane, Dr. Gauri has called Sindhudurg her home for the past 18 years. She earned her MBBS and completed her MS, DNB in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the prestigious Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, graduating in 2006. Dr. Gauri's professional journey includes roles as a Medical Officer at Kudal Rural Hospital and as a dedicated Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Civil Hospital, Oras.

Her current focus is on ultrasound technology and its diverse applications, reflecting her commitment to advancing women's healthcare.
